How To Get a Jump-Start With Spring Cleaning
Spring will soon be in the air with fresh flowers, warm breezes and the occasional rain shower, but so will pollen, dust and dirt that will inevitably get into your home. It’s time to prepare. Start this spring off fresh with these tips to jump-start your spring cleaning. We have made a list for you to use while We’ve made a list for you to use while your start!
1. Set Goals and Make a Plan
Spring cleaning your entire home can feel overwhelming. Set clear, realistic goals from the start and make a list of the things you want to accomplish. When you can see exactly what you want to do it’s easier to get going. Seperate your lists by room to keep things organized. Set aside a few days to tackle your list and plan to focus on a couple of rooms per day. If you’re not much of a planner, you can simply download a spring cleaning checklist to help get organized.
2. Get the Family On Board For Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning is a chore, but the process will be quicker and smoother with everyone involved. Think of age-appropriate tasks to assign to the kids and make a game of it to add some fun. A little competition will elevate the mood when it’s finally time to clean. Have a reward or prize ready for completed jobs to increase incentive.
3. Purchase Cleaning Supplies
You can’t clean without the means to. Stock up on your cleaning essentials beforehand so you won’t have to run to the store when it’s time to start cleaning. You may want to assemble a cleaning kit that you can easily take with you around the house. A shower caddy with some multi-purpose cleaners, sponges, towels, gloves and other cleaning tools will be a big help.
4. Make a Playlist
Spring cleaning can be draining so to combat that fatigue, create a playlist that will energize you and put you in the mood. When it’s time to hunker down you’ll already have your music ready to go without delay. If you don’t want music, consider picking out an audiobook or podcast to listen to while you work instead.
5. Clear Out Clutter
Before you even think about deep cleaning, you need to declutter. It can be time-consuming so it’s better to get it done before the big clean. Go through your home and filter the items you want to get rid of in two piles: donate and trash. Once the clutter is out of the way, it will be easier to know what truly needs to be cleaned.
6. Pack Away Winter
With warmer weather approaching, it’s time to pack away winter clothing and bedding. These items can be bulky so consider using vacuum seal storage to save space. With cold weather things out of the way, you’ll have room to channel springtime in your home. Bring on pastels and bright colors!
