Landscaping Tips to Add Value to Your Home
Adding Trees
One of our first landscaping tips includes planting trees in your yard. Trees have many benefits and increase the value of your home. They also increase the curb appeal as they add a layer of dimension into the, oftentimes flat, yard. Dimension in the yard can be created through flowers, bushes, trees, and yard furniture. Adding these elements can set your home apart from the rest if you live in a neighborhood! Trees provide shade for outdoor living areas as well. Large trees can cool down any area, especially on a hot summer day. Additionally, they can reduce the cooling costs of the home if they are providing shade near the windows of your home.
Fresh Grass
Having bright and healthy grass is one of the most important landscaping tips that we make note of. Grass should typically absorb 1-1.5 inches of water per week. This will allow it to maintain a fresh green look. Whether it is from rain, or from underground irrigation systems, it is important to ensure they are not getting too much water. If you see on the forecast that it is supposed to rain a lot one week, turn off the sprinklers. Additionally, as you maintain the grass’ health, it is important to note that it will be growing at a steady rate. Depending on where you live, you will need to mow your lawn frequently to ensure it is at a proper level. Tall grass is an immediate turn-off to clients as it signifies that the inside of the home may not be well-kept either.
Lighting
The last of our landscaping tips include adding a variety of lighting into and around the yard. You can increase the curb appeal by adding various lights around your yard. You can do this in a few different ways: Hanging lights from the porch and sides of the house, having stand-up light poles, or inserting lights into the ground and lining the driveway or walkway. Whichever way you choose to go, it will provide safety and visual appeal. Here are some lights we found that you could add to your yard!
Making the effort to make small changes to your yard will pay off in the long run. You do not have to make major changes to increase the value or visual appeal of your home.
